Mitsubishi Lancer GTS Compact

I've driven lots of cars that make idiots want to race me.

Usually I just ignore them and drive like a grandma until they go away, taking off in their sticker-covered cars with McDonnell-Douglass spoilers and Folgers-can exhaust tips. I think it's great that they want to race, just not on a public street.

And I've never driven a car that attracts more stupid, whiny-engined street racers than this Mitsubishi.

It's the Lancer GTS, a family car designed to look and feel sporty. It has a rock-hard suspension, a huge rear wing and styling that makes it look kinda sorta like the wicked-fast Mitsubishi Evolution X.

Despite what the kids in crooked hats think, though, the Lancer GTS is no Evolution. It actually feels like it's powered by an anemic hamster.

Other than the drivetrain, everything about this car feels raw and abrasive, exactly what a hardcore driving enthusiast wants. In many ways, it feels like it belongs on a racetrack, mainly because of the raucous suspension that makes even a mirror-smooth road feel like it's filled with potholes. Few street cars let you sense the road surface as precisely as this one, which is great if you want an engaging drive but no so cool if you want to be comfortable.

It doesn't help matters that the engine is coupled to a continuously variable transmission, so you don't get the same sensation of speed as you would with a manual transmission or even, heaven forbid, a traditional automatic.

Toyota Scion iQ concept

The iQ is a 3+1 seater! which means one of the rear seats can be folded so you’ll have a tiny luggage space, clever idea. Apart from the wide bodykit which makes the already iconic iQ even more distinctive, you get a whole lot more for a car like this, such as 18 inch wheels which are bigger than the car itself or a ginormous 10 inch multimedia screen in the cabin, again bigger than the car itself!

The car uses the standard 1.3 liter four-cylinder engine which kicks out 93 hp, fairly enough power for such tiny little thing. The Scion iQ is a fine tuning job but it doesn’t seem to be right for its purpose, which is selling in America. Anyhow, there is no official statement on when it’ll be available there, maybe never!

nissan 350 z

K&N Engineering has designed a dual air intake system (69-7071TS) for the 2007 Nissan 350Z with a 3.5 liter V6 engine. The system consists of two short ram air intakes with powder coated silver tubes, two K&N high flow air filters (RU-4960) and two powder coated steel heat shields.

K&N dynamometer tests show an 8.17 horsepower gain at 5800 rpm. In addition to power gains, K&N air intake systems are designed to increase filtering capacity and improve throttle response. The heat shields are engineered to isolate the oversized K&N high flow air filters from engine bay heat. There is a different heat shield for each side of the vehicle designed to fit the unique contours and equipment each side has in place.

The 69-7071TS also uses the 350Z’s factory fresh air ducts which provide cooler outside air to the individual K&N air filters for more power. The two air intake units are placed in opposite corners near the fender wells behind the headlights of the 350Z.

It takes about 90 minutes to install this K&N air intake. It does not remove the stock intake plenums which keep a clean look under the hood. This K&N air intake system, like all other K&N air intake systems is backed by the famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.
K&N Engineering, Inc., with headquarters in Riverside, California, has been the world's leader in performance filter technology since 1969, serving the needs of the automotive, motorcycle, marine, industrial and military markets. K&N is heavily involved in nearly every form of motorsports from off-road and powersports to drag racing, stock cars and road racing. For more information about K&N Filters.

Honda S2000 CR

Blaming the dramatic downturn in the global auto market, Honda Motors has sent the Honda S2000 to join the highly-anticipated 2010 Acura NSX to that great ‘Ring in the sky. Implementing an aggressive new program aimed at avoiding a predicament similar to that which American automakers currently find themselves entrenched, Honda has begun to edge away from the performance car circuit in favor of focusing on the current fad: fuel-efficiency.

The most aggressively publicized hybrid edition to the Honda lineup will be the Honda Insight, which is scheduled to debut with a thumb of its redesigned nose at the Toyota Prius at the 2009 NAIAS later this month. Next year, Honda plans to introduce the world’s first hybrid micro car, the Honda Jazz, which Honda claims will average 80mpg and produce a mere 90g/km of CO2. Ultimately, Honda intends to have 500,000 hybrid vehicles on the market by 2012, but does not have any immediate plans to revive either the Honda S2000 or the Acura NSX.
