Honda S2000 CR

Blaming the dramatic downturn in the global auto market, Honda Motors has sent the Honda S2000 to join the highly-anticipated 2010 Acura NSX to that great ‘Ring in the sky. Implementing an aggressive new program aimed at avoiding a predicament similar to that which American automakers currently find themselves entrenched, Honda has begun to edge away from the performance car circuit in favor of focusing on the current fad: fuel-efficiency.

The most aggressively publicized hybrid edition to the Honda lineup will be the Honda Insight, which is scheduled to debut with a thumb of its redesigned nose at the Toyota Prius at the 2009 NAIAS later this month. Next year, Honda plans to introduce the world’s first hybrid micro car, the Honda Jazz, which Honda claims will average 80mpg and produce a mere 90g/km of CO2. Ultimately, Honda intends to have 500,000 hybrid vehicles on the market by 2012, but does not have any immediate plans to revive either the Honda S2000 or the Acura NSX.
